The project “MATERIART: Art and Science of materials in Architectural Design Education”, prepared under the leadership of Professor Nur Çağlar from TOBB University of Economics and Technology, was eligible to be supported in the 2017 Erasmus+ Programme Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education.
The project started in December 2017, has duration of 36 months and the total budget of the project is 325,185.00 Euro. The project includes 6 universities from 5 countries under the coordination of TOBB ETU.
The reflections of emerging digital design and communication technologies and new materials in architectural form and construction have led to a number of changes, including technical, aesthetic and cultural. Inevitably, there is also a reform effort in all areas of the architectural discipline. It can be said that architectural educational practices, with the exception of a very small number of schools, cover new ways of thinking and doing, and have the capacity to realize the integration of these innovations in education. Innovative approaches in studio education, which form the backbone of architectural education, are almost absent. International architecture studios in this project through intensive research and professional fields at the undergraduate and graduate level in order to absorb the changes in the field of circular, alternative and flexible research environment, produce professional studio practitioners, including instructors and international education peer education in the environment in terms of current models with the method of support is intended to allow the opportunity to contribute to the development of cooperation.
